Listen Up, Gardeners..."10 Simple Habits for a Healthier Lifestyle"

Hello there, my lovely Gardeners of Assets! Are you tired of trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle, only to find that it's too difficult and stressful to stick to? Well, fear not, because I have some simple and easy habits that you can incorporate into your daily routine to help you achieve a healthier lifestyle. These habits are so easy, you won't even realize you're doing them!

1. Start Your Day With A Glass Of Water

This might sound like a no-brainer, but drinking a glass of water first thing in the morning can do wonders for your body. It kickstarts your metabolism, helps flush out toxins, and keeps you hydrated throughout the day. I usually squeeze an organic

lemon in the glass and 3 - 4 times a week add some super-food green powder. I believe this is a must for the morning ritual.

2. Take A Walk During Lunch

Most serious Asset Gardeners spend a lot of time reading, doing research and most of it is in front of a computer. Congrats to those of you still working outside, using your body, as you patiently wait for those Assets to bloom. Sitting at a desk all day can wreak havoc on your body. Take a break and go for a walk during your lunch break. It will not only help you digest your

food better but also give you a chance to get some fresh air and clear your head. I seldom eat breakfast or lunch so I do most of my walking/workouts later in the afternoon but during the day I do take breaks from sitting and do some squats, jumping jacks, etc to keep the lymph system and blood circulation moving.

3. Swap Your Afternoon Snack For A piece Of Fruit

Instead of reaching for a bag of chips (oh yeah....there is my addiction) or a candy bar, grab an apple or a banana. It will give you the energy you need to power through the rest of your day without the sugar crash. Although fruit is 'good' food

most fruits do have a lot of sugar so eat a small portion of protein and a little fat (good fat: avocado, nuts, yogurt, cheese, etc) to slow down that sugar adsorption.

4. Stretch Before Bed

Stretching before bed can help you relax and unwind after a long day. It also helps improve flexibility, reduces stress, and can even alleviate muscle soreness.

5. Practice Mindful Breathing

Taking a few minutes each day to practice deep breathing can do wonders for your mental and physical health. It reduces stress, lowers blood pressure, and improves overall lung function. I learned Transcendental Meditation in my early 20's and found that 2 sessions of about 10 minutes each (morning and afternoon)

decreased the amount of sleep I needed substantially, usually only needing around 5 hours instead of the typical 7 or more. These days I use it off and on and find it very beneficial. I never use it as a spiritual outlet, purely physical and for alleviation of the normal stresses of my daily life. The spiritual is critically important but that part of my story is for another day. Anyway, do try to find a quiet few minutes every day. Your body will greatly appreciate it.

6. Drink Herbal Tea In Place of Sodas

Soda is jam packed full of sugar and artificial flavors that do more harm than good, or maybe no good at all. Try swapping it out for a cup of herbal tea instead. It's a great way to hydrate, and many herbal teas have health benefits of their own. If that's a challenge for you, do some research, Gardener. You won't regret giving up

those junk drinks. And don't be fooled by the labels...(sugar free, caffeine free, added vitamins...they are full of things not good for you. 9.9 out of 10 of them are poisoning you. OK...I'm done and off my hobby horse. One more thing. If you don't like tea, just drink water. Staying hydrated is a huge benefit that most folks don't pay attention to.

7. Get Enough Sleep

We all know that getting enough sleep is important, but it's easier said than done. Try to establish a bedtime routine and stick to it. Turn off all electronics at least an hour before bed, and create a relaxing atmosphere in your bedroom. I struggle with

this one. Sleep is great but there is just so much to learn that it's hard to shut down shop and hit the rack. Nevertheless....Do it! It's good for you. Ask your Mom!

8. Pack Your Own Lunch

Eating out can be convenient, but it's not always the healthiest option. Try packing your own lunch instead. Not only will you save money, but you'll also have more control over what you're putting in your body. And all us Gardeners know what those daily saved dollars can do in our Garden, right?

9. Take The Stairs Every Chance You Get

It might not seem like much, but taking the stairs instead of the elevator can help you burn extra calories and get your heart pumping. If you have stairs around you in your daily course of life, take out your calculator and figure out how far you'd go if

you took them 2X a day over the course of your 50 weeks of work.....hmmm? Just like saving a little every day at lunch, a little bit of stairs 2X a day - it will add up.

Laugh More!!!

Last but not least, don't forget to laugh! Truly....Laughter is the best medicine, after all. It reduces stress, boosts your mood, and even has physical health benefits like improving your immune system. Take a few minutes to research this topic from a medical perspective. It's amazing how it affects our bodies.

There you have it, My Gardener Friends - 10 simple habits that can help you achieve a healthier lifestyle without stress and hassle. So go ahead, give them a try, and let me know how it goes! We want to give that Asset Garden all the fertilizer we can while our bodies are strong. Hope it helps. Soon we can talk about some work out challenges! Fun times ahead.
